Microgrants from Federation powered Jewish education in 2020

2020 was a tough year on schools all over—and the 2020–21 school year presented new challenges on a regular basis. Federation is proud to have supported our Jewish partner and non-partner schools in Minneapolis as they faced an unprecedented year of ups and downs. Additional funds were given out as microgrants—grants with a maximum award of $10,000—to help schools meet the needs of their students and teachers.

Don’t let the name fool you—these microgrants had a might y impact. 10 local Jewish schools received awards (ranging from $1,250 to $10,000) from Federation, combining for a total of over $53,000 going directly to help our schools where they needed it most. Through the microgrants, schools were able to support their students with new technology, develop a meaningful Jewish Studies curriculum, and make sure that the transition back to in-person learning was seamless and safe. The microgrants also allowed schools to develop a new kind of classroom that melds in-person with virtual learning, provide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for staff and faculty, and enhance students’ learning with additional educational opportunities.

See below for a breakdown of what these education Microgrants supported and our partner and non-partner schools.  Your donation to Federation helps us power initiatives like these Microgrants, and keeps our local schools and other programming strong. Thanks for your support!
